Grow Through What You Go Through – Psychological First Aid
Psychological First Aid (PFA) is a supportive intervention that assists you in coping with stress following a potentially traumatic event. It fosters psychological safety within a team and equips you with tools to navigate life's challenges. PFA promotes team cohesiveness and enhances individual resilience.
Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Describe the resistance, resilience, recovery continuum as it relates a person’s experience of a powerful event.
- Discuss the importance of providing peer psychological support during a powerful life event.
- Recognize common psychological, physiological, and behavioral reactions to powerful events.
- Explain the mechanisms of action of PFA.
- Practice the SAFER-Revised model of individual PFA.
- Discuss the importance of self-care techniques for providing PFA.
