Upcoming Projects

• Window replacement (April - May 2017) - In the spring of 2017, aging and large, single-paned windows were replaced with double-paned windows that preserve the historic look and feel of the building while improving energy efficiency. This project is part of a larger initiative to improve energy efficiency on the Capitol Campus.

Past Projects

• Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system - In 2014 the Archives Building Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system was upgraded due to equipment being past it’s useful life (1984). The project appropriation was $1 million, and included an energy certificate of participation (COP) of $400,000, a $100,000 (name of) grant from the state Department of Commerce and a utility rebate of $50,820.

Building History

Built in 1963, about 20 employees work in the state Secretary of State's Southwest Regional Branch on the Olympia Capitol Campus which provides archival and records management services to local government agencies throughout Clark, Cowlitz, Grays Harbor, Lewis, Mason, Pacific, Skamania, Thurston and Wahkiakum counties. Local government records include those from county offices such as the auditor, clerk, treasurer and Board of Commissioners, and from municipalities, school districts, and other service districts.
