A Path Toward Equity: Disrupting Structural Racism through Awareness and Belonging

The goal of the Path Toward Equity training is to offer foundational diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training for all Washington State cabinet agency employees. Intentionally starting with race, these classes will allow all employees to gain awareness of racial inequalities and their effects. These foundational classes are focused on the emerging levels of competency, providing shared language and awareness of how racial inequities show up in every system and workplace in Washington.

Prior to enrolling in Module 1 of the series learners are required to watch the “Who We Are: A Chronicle of Racism in America” documentary.

Module 1 – Racism as a Foundation, a virtual instructor-led training

Race and racism are difficult concepts. Racism as a Foundation will offer learners foundational definitions of racism, prejudice, and discrimination. Through facilitated conversation, group engagement, and introspective activities, the learner will be able to demonstrate their ability to understand and differentiate between these often misunderstood and misused terms.

Please note the training schedule for Module 1 - Racism as a Foundation is available for viewing purposes only. This course is available for registration within the Washington State Learning Center after the "Who We Are" documentary has been viewed.
