Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
- Facilitate sustainable change by strengthening your employees’ internal motivations for commitment and change.
- Create the atmosphere conducive to change.
- Accept uncertainty as an expected component of behavior change.
- Assess a person’s readiness to change using the Transtheoretical Model of behavior change.
- Meet your employees where they are by using matching and effective motivating approaches.
- Apply the Transtheoretical Model of behavior change to assess your own level of readiness.
- Review and practice each of the micro-skills of MI: reflections, open-ended questions, summaries, affirmations, and information sharing.
- Identify and reinforce change talk.
- Handle resistance effectively.
